Security and Privacy Project: Legal Workgroup
The Legal Workgroup consists of 15-20 privacy and security experts who have extensive knowledge of and experience with Federal and State legal issues as they apply to the workings of Wisconsin's health care system. The HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin's Privacy Group serves as the foundation for the Legal Workgroup membership. The Legal Workgroup is charged with analyzing legal barriers to electronic health information exchange as identified by the Variations Workgroup members.
Legal Workgroup members will recommend ways in which Wisconsin law should be changed to accommodate the implementation of electronic health information exchange within the state, and eventually, between states regionally and nationwide. Members of the Legal Workgroup will also work with the Solutions Workgroup, and later, the Implementation Workgroup, to ensure that Wisconsin laws are accurately and consistently interpreted throughout the process of developing solutions to eliminate the barriers to electronic health information exchange, and the process of creating an implementation plan for those solutions.
